The children’s posse is the newest subchapter of the Benton County Posse. Its membership is made up of children who are 13 years of age or younger. Members of the Children’s Posse must be sponsored by a parent who is an active posse member in good standing. Members of the Children’s Posse will become ineligible for membership if their sponsoring parent terminates their membership in the regular posse.
Members must also provide a suitable mount and equipment.
No member of the Children’s Posse can perform any form of public duty, they are not allowed to be sworn in as deputy sheriffs and they have no voting rights within the posse.
Children’s Posse members are no longer eligible for the membership in the Children’s Posse as soon as they reach the age of 14. However, they can at that time become a member of the Junior Posse should they meet all requirements for that organization.
