Posse members compete against other posses in pistol competitions at the annual Oregon Association of Mounted Posses (OAMP) Pistol Shoot. In order to prepare for this event, Benton County Posse members conduct bimonthly target range practice at the indoor pistol range at the sheriff’s office. They compete in .38, 9mm, and .22 caliber classes.
Purpose of the OAMP Pistol Matches: Foster fellowship amoung members of the posses throughout the state of Oregon. Promote safe firearms handling and marksmanship skills of posse members. Provide an enjoyable recreational activity for members of posses. Provide members with a competitive activity.
