Regular Membership Requirements

Regular membership is limited to 50 members. All newly elected members are accepted as probationary members for first 12 months and, if found acceptable for regular membership after this period, can be elected to regular membership.

All members Must:

1. Be a citizen of the United States.
2. Reside in the vicinity of Benton County.
3. Upon election, be duly sworn in as a Special Deputy Sheriff.
4. Be at least 21 years of age.
5. Be of sound mind and judgment.
6. Be free of any felony convictions.
7. Hold a valid Oregon Driver's License, free of major traffic crimes, violations and multiple accidents.
8. Satisfactorily pass a background investigation.
9. Be available Monday evenings for riding and monthly business meetings.
10. Be available to participate in projects and fund raising activities.
11. Furnish part of uniform as required.
